VinUni Signs MOU with the State Agency for Technology Innovation, Ministry of Science and Technology

On December 21, 2023, the Agile Innovation Center, VinUniversity successfully collaborated with the State Agency for Technology Innovation (SATI) under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) to organize a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony to promote Industry Innovation in Vietnam. This event marked a significant milestone in the partnership between VinUni and SATI, as well as a crucial step in coordinating efforts with MOST to develop resources for the science and technology sector in Vietnam.

After the Signing Ceremony, the two parties officially launched a project to develop Vietnam Industry Innovation Index (VIII). Professor Soumitra Dutta (Dean of Saïd Business School, Oxford University, President of Portulans Institute, creator of the Global Innovation Index) will become the Scientific Director for this project. Professor Dutta will support VinUni’s research team in building a set of industry innovation capacity indexes in Vietnam. In addition, Professor Soumitra will provide strategic direction and share global trends and innovation models in typical industries, fields and countries to our team.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Hoang Minh, Deputy Minister of MOST, emphasized that innovation is a critical bridge between scientific research, technological development, and socio-economic growth. He stated that MOST, through SATI, will continue to provide methodological support and advocate for research and training activities at VinUniversity to deliver research outcomes that contribute to policy-making and economic development.

Meanwhile, Dr. Le Mai Lan, Chairwoman of the VinUniversity Council, also affirmed that innovation is a key driver in enhancing productivity, efficiency, and the nation’s competitive capacity. She emphasized that comprehensive cooperation with clear goals, especially in building a capable and dedicated workforce, is essential for implementing this vision.

This cooperation agreement not only aims to enhance the quality of human resources in science, technology, and innovation but also to promote innovation activities based on science and technology. The two parties are committed to organizing training programs, developing tools to assess innovation capabilities and outcomes across various industries and sectors, and supporting businesses and organizations in improving their competitiveness, productivity, and transitioning to green and clean practices.

The signing ceremony was a great success and is considered a crucial step in promoting innovation in Vietnam, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development in the coming years.
